Cruiserworks - March 29, 2005

When Allen and Beth Veach founded Cruiserworks, they committed to building high-quality riding boots for people like themselves-"boomers who bike." What you see her is the culmination of this commitment, and the Veaches' two best-selling boots for men and women riders.

For men, it's the Classic-a boot in which '50s style meets modern technology. This guaranteed waterproof engineer-style boot is comfortable and tough, with a retro look, but made from modern state-of-the art materials. The Classic retails for $229, and is available in half sizes from 6.5 to 14, and in medium (D) and wide (EE) widths.

For women, style, comfort, and rugged durability meet in the Lady Lace - ladies' riding boot with attitude. Completely waterproof, Kevlar-reinforced at the ankles, and protected by a military-designed toe guard, the Lady Lace combines kick-butt performance with a refined aggressive look. Attention to detail is manifest throughout this boot-right down to the lace-retention strap to help prevent entanglement with shifters or pegs. It retails for $229, and is available from 5.5 to 11 in medium (B) width, and sizes 6 to 10.5 in wide (C) width.

All Cruiserworks boots share common features that Allen and Beth consider crucial to a quality biking boot: oil and acid resistant outsoles, a layer of ballistic nylon around the ankles on both sides of the boots for added protection, a lightweight, but tough, styrene toe box originally developed for the Canadian military, sturdy nickel-plated hardware, comfortable insoles and Dri-Lex boots lining to wick away moisture.

Give your boomers who bike-type customers a reason to kick back in your shop's showroom by setting up a "Cruiserworks' corner." Given their high margin and universal appeal, Cruiserworks boots might be just the thing to help you stomp out discount mail-order competition.
